Best of Winter Travel City Guides

It may not be the official start of the winter season yet, but Im craving some sub-zero temps and snowfall out west. In order to get into the wintery spirit, Ive gathered a list of favorite winter spots city guides for you to use on any upcoming travel youve got planned.  All of these destinations offer snow-capped mountains, incredible snow sports and adventures as well as the mountain-style lodge-y retreat you may be looking for come the colder months of the season. I know Id gladly escape to any of these locales. And also be sure to check out the Best of the East and Best of the West if you are planning any additional travel this winter! Stephanie ASPEN, CO Surrounded by four ski resorts (Aspen Mountain, Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass), our backyard playground is pretty much unparalleled. But the locals secret of summer in Aspen has gotten out ? when adventures are endless, culture thrives and life slows down. - guide author Katie Shapiro JACKSON HOLE, WY Just a few miles outside of the Town of Jackson, lies the quaint and charming mountain town of Wilson.  Take Highway 22 straight into Wilson and head up Teton Pass to make your way over to Idaho.  Teton Pass is known for the incredible backcountry skiing and mountain biking trails. guide author Meagan Murtagh photo: Historic New England BURLINGTON, VT Though most travelers make the trek to the Green Mountain State in search of rugged ski trails, fresh mountain air and, of course, maple syrup, Burlington serves up an eclectic mix of food, fashion and art often found exclusively in a big city environment. guide author Angela M. Graziano photo: Park City Winter Rentals PARK CITY, UT Of course, three amazing ski snowboard resorts draw people to this place from all over the world. But Park City is also home to many other outdoor activities, great restaurants, fun boutiques, a thriving arts community, a historic downtown, and the Sundance Film Festival. guide author Eva Jorgensen VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA Victoria, BC, Canada is stereotyped as a city of newlyweds and nearly deads. While this stereotype holds some truth, it?s the other unique characteristics of Victoria that give it its appeal and have made it a fertile ground for interesting cafes, arts and culture. guide author Bonnie Wilson photo: Gibson Mansion MISSOULA, MT Missoula is the lovechild of Austin and Jackson Hole. This town has the perfect balance of mountains + music; wilderness + wildness; and old west + opportunity. guide author Rachel Stevens
